They have the most modern dental technology, from completing preregistration forms by phone, 3-D dental images in place of impressions and immediate MRI’s! The office is professional yet warm, inviting, and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The hygienist and Dr. were thorough and did a fantastic job! I will definitely go back, and I highly recommend Dental Solutions!

Is Tooth Extraction Covered By Insurance?

Yes, tooth extraction for wisdom teeth, damaged teeth, and decayed teeth is eligible for coverage from dental insurance. That's because it's essential for your health and oral function. The amount it covers will depend on your plan and provider.

Insurance can also help with the cost of dental crowns or bridges, as well. It will not assist with dental implants or sedation — but the many benefits of both make them good investments in your smile.

The Tooth Extraction Process From Start to Finish

Finding a Solution

As soon as you notice signs like swelling or loose teeth, reach out to our kind team. Our dentists will assess your smile during a consultation to see what the right solution is. Early care may mean you need just a filling or a root canal instead of an extraction.

Making You Comfortable

Nervous? We have options to address both anxiety and discomfort. For anxious patients, Dr. Stofer can administer sedation options like oral conscious sedation or nitrous oxide. We'll also use local anesthetic to make your extraction virtually painless.

Tooth Extraction

Once you're fully at-ease and ready for your procedure, your dentist will remove your tooth. Depending on factors like impaction, roots, and the tooth's integrity, it may be removed whole or in parts. Regardless, our dentist will remove every piece.

Cleaning and Packing

Lastly, he will ensure your mouth is clean. He may also pack the area with gauze.

Going Home

If you opt for oral or IV sedation, you will need someone to drive you home after your procedure. Dr. Spangle or Dr. Stofer will go over your recovery instructions, such as how long to use gauze.

The Recovery Process

An antibiotic prescription can be issued to prevent infection during your recovery. You'll also need to be mindful of your healing by consuming only soft, room-temperature foods at first.

Finally, you need to know that a blood clot should form over your extraction site, protecting it and allowing it to heal. If this blood clot is dislodged too soon, it can result in a condition called dry socket. Dry socket is serious, so reach out to our dentists if you notice any exposure.

What Happens After Tooth Extraction?

Each patient's journey is different, but you once you have healed and taken all your antibiotics, you can usually expect yours to take one of these paths:

Wisdom Tooth Healing

In the case of wisdom teeth, once the area has healed, you won't need any further treatment. Unlike other teeth, wisdom teeth do not need replacement after extraction.

Traditional Restorations

Though implants are considered the most comprehensive form of tooth restoration, some patients still prefer traditional restorations. Depending on your case, we may be able to replace a single extracted tooth with a dental bridge. It will be anchored by crowns on your natural teeth.

Implant Restorations

For a solution that improves stability and bone health, Dr. Stofer can place a dental implant in your jaw and gum. After the area has healed, he can top the implant with a custom dental restoration to fully replace your tooth.
