Oral Surgery Services
At our Warsaw, IN, practice, we perform general surgical extractions, as well as wisdom teeth extractions. Our dentist is equipped to address both simple and complicated tooth removal. We also offer nitrous oxide sedation, oral conscious sedation, and IV sedation options for all of our oral and maxillofacial surgery treatments.
Dental implants don't just replace missing tooth roots. They also help preserve your facial structures by reducing the risk of jawbone atrophy. Implants support a variety of restorations, including dental crowns, bridges, and dentures. Bill Stofer, DDS, and his experienced staff can perform every aspect of dental implant care right here in our Warsaw, IN, office.
Jawbone degradation can occur due to trauma or prolonged tooth loss. Bone graft surgery involves adding donor tissue to areas of bone loss to increase density and provide better support to the facial features. Grafts are often necessary prior to dental implant surgery. In many cases, they can be performed at the same time as tooth extraction to preserve the site for an implant later on.
If a patient has abnormal lesions in their mouth, a soft-tissue biopsy may be necessary. A biopsy is the surgical removal of a small piece of tissue for further testing. A soft-tissue biopsy can detect oral pre-cancer and cancer in its early stages, when it can be most effectively treated. Bill Stofer, DDS, can perform this type of biopsy and refer you to another specialist if necessary.

"The staff was amazing and so caring." Another Great Review for Our Experienced Team
"I had a tooth issue over the weekend. First thing on Monday morning I called and they got me an appointment for that same day. The staff was amazing and so caring. Dr Stofer was a “gentle giant” with a spot on assessment and understanding personality!
I left with one less tooth, but a thankful heart for finding an amazing dental office!" Rick Palmer - 2022
Sedation for Oral Surgery Procedures
Commonly called "laughing gas", nitrous oxide is a sedative that is inhaled through a nosepiece. The effects can be felt within minutes, and Dr. Stofer can adjust the dosage throughout your appointment. Because nitrous oxide leaves the system quickly, patients can drive themselves to and from our office.
Typically administered in pill form, oral conscious sedation offers a deeper level of relaxation. The dosage is determined according to the patient's height, weight, and medical history. Patients are still able to breathe on their own, unlike general anesthesia in a hospital. Therefore, you can still communicate with Dr. Stofer as necessary throughout your appointment.
The strongest sedative typically available in a dental office, this method delivers medication directly to the bloodstream. The effects are felt right away. It is one of the safest forms, as the dosage can be adjusted – or even reversed – immediately. This type of sedative is usually recommended for patients who are extremely anxious or undergoing lengthy procedures.
Due to the nature of oral and intravenous sedatives, patients who opt for sedation must have a responsible friend or family member drive them home after their appointment. These medications have a temporary effect on motor skills and cognitive ability. Patients should not drive for 24 to 48 hours after their surgical appointment.
