Dental Implants

Even after replacing a lost tooth with a crown, bridge, or denture, your bite may be less stable and your jaw may start to change shape.

At Dental Solutions, dental implants support lifelike restorations that are as stable as natural teeth and prevent jaw atrophy.

Tell me more about why Dr. William B. Stofer at Dental Solutions in Warsaw, IN, recommends implant dentistry to address tooth loss...

An Advanced Solution with Many Benefits

Restored Function

Dental implants replace tooth roots. They are inserted directly into the jawbone in order to give your restorations virtually the same level of stability as your natural teeth, allowing you to speak clearly and chew any foods you like.

Bone Retention

Following tooth loss, your body will begin to lose bone tissue from the jaw. Over time, the jaw will shrink and change shape, which will affect your bite and your facial features. Implants provide the stimulation necessary to prevent bone loss.

Long-Lasting Benefits

With a good oral care routine at home, paired with biannual visits to the dentist, your implants can last the rest of your life with proper care. However, crowns, bridges, and dentures will eventually need to be replaced.

Improved Appearance

Implants and the attractive restorations we provide to patients produce obvious cosmetic benefits, such as closing large gaps caused by tooth loss. They also prevent bone loss in the jaw, which contributes to a sunken facial appearance.

Superior to Removable Dentures

Implant-supported restorations are remarkably durable and strong. Dental implants can support partial and full dentures, minimizing slippage for individuals missing a large number of teeth. They typically offer superior comfort and confidence to traditional alternatives.

There are not enough stars to rate how fantastic Dental Solutions is. Dr. Stofer and his staff are exceptional. We had been given the run around with our 5 year old daughter who has having terrible tooth pain for about 5 months and did not feel cared for or listened to until we came to Dental Solutions. They are willing to work with you and make sure you understand what is going on and what they are doing. I cannot recommend Dr. Stofer and Dental Solutions enough! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Dr. Stofer has been my dentist for about 20 years and always liked him and their friendly staff. My 86 year old mom is staying with us now after breaking her hip and needed emergency dental work. After her procedure was done and as we were going home, her comment was that: "Dr. Stofer was the most gentle dentist she has ever been too." The staff was so kind and friendly. Thank you Dr. Stofer!

How do I know if dental implants are right for me?

Bone Grafting before Dental Implant Surgery

Since healthy bone growth is stimulated during the chewing action, missing teeth can result in the atrophy and loss of bone. For this reason, bone grafting may first need to be performed for some individuals in order to sufficiently strengthen the jawbone before an implant is placed.  In some cases, patients can receive All-on-4® dental implants to skip bone grafts and other preparatory procedures.

Types of Dental Implants Available

To meet the individual tooth loss needs of each patient that visits our Warsaw, IN, dentistry practice, Dr. Stofer offers two unique types of implant care:

Traditional Implants

Patients with good overall oral health and jawbone density can replace teeth with individual dental implants supporting a dental crown, bridge, or denture. The number of titanium implant posts needed to support your new restoration will depend on the number of teeth being replaced. Dr. Stofer can design a custom treatment plan to address tooth loss during a consultation.

All-on-4®

Many patients missing a complete arch of teeth who also have low jawbone density can enjoy the benefits of an implant-supported restoration with the help of All-on-4. Using four strategically placed implants to support a lifelike denture, All-on-4 allows patients to skip the bone grafting or sinus lift usually needed to restore their candidacy for implant treatment.

Sedation Dentistry Is Available

At Dental Solutions in Warsaw, IN, we understand that a trip to the dentist can cause anxiety in some patients. To help nervous patients remain calm at every stage of their implant procedure, we offer a range of sedation options, including:

Light Sedation

Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is administered through a nose mask and helps achieve a state of relaxation when inhaled. Easily controlled and safe enough for use on children, the effects of nitrous oxide wear off quickly as soon as the mask is removed. This allows patients the freedom to drive themselves home after their procedure.

Moderate Sedation

The next level of sedation provided by Dr. Stofer is oral conscious sedation. A prescription medication you take before your appointment, oral conscious sedation may make some patients drowsy. Because the effects of oral conscious sedation last longer than treatment, patients will need someone to drive them to and from their implant appointment.

Deep Sedation

Intravenous (IV) sedation offers patients a level of relaxation that puts them in a twilight state. This allows patients with extreme anxiety the ability to undergo much-needed dental care to improve their state of oral health. Some patients may not remember their time in the dentist's chair with deep sedation. Like moderate sedation, patients receiving IV sedation will need to arrange transportation to and from their appointment at Dental Solutions.

Implants: What to Expect during Surgery

Abutment

A connector piece called an abutment will need to be attached to the top of each dental implant. The gums will need about two weeks to heal before your final visit.

Permanent Restoration

A final visit will be needed to place a permanent dental prosthetic atop the pos. We will design an all-porcelain crown, bridge, or denture that closely resembles the look of your natural teeth.

Paying for Dental Implants

Your crown, bridge, or denture might be covered by insurance, but implants are usually considered elective and not covered.

Determining Cost

The cost you will pay for implants depends upon a number of different factors. At Dr. Stofer's practice in Warsaw, he will help you understand these factors and give you a cost estimate for your dental implant treatment plan during your consultation.
