Dental Imaging With Planmeca ProMax® 3D Max
The Planmeca ProMax® 3D Max imaging system is an advanced way to analyze your oral health. Technology that was once reserved for medical CT scans is now being used to create a realistic 3D representation of a patient's entire smile. This is an exciting breakthrough that can make any procedures that require x-rays easier to perform. We are pleased to offer this dental imaging technology to patients in the Warsaw area in order to provide safer, more efficient treatment. To find out more about how the Planmeca ProMax® 3D Max can benefit you, please contact our office and schedule an appointment with one of our dentists.
Your Safety is Our Priority
The Planmeca ProMax® 3D Max imaging system exposes patients to incredibly low levels of radiation when capturing images. The device uses pulsed x-ray technology, which means that if the required scanning time is 18-26 seconds to capture an image, the total exposure time is only 3 seconds. Planmeca has a commitment to the ALARA radiation principle, which means "As Low As Reasonably Achievable", and is intended to keep both patients and dentists safe from harmful exposure levels. This device is able to achieve excellent results using low levels of radiation through the use of their patented Selectively Compliant Articulated Robot Arm, which allows extremely precise placement to capture images of very small areas of the mouth.
Cone Beam Computed Tomography Technology
The Planmeca ProMax® 3D Max imaging system uses Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) to offer an undistorted 3D overview of the anatomy of a patient's entire smile. This innovative technology allows for the CBCT scanner to rotate around the patient's head to capture about 600 distinct images. From these images, a 3D representation is created to aid in diagnostics and treatment planning. This technology gives the Planmeca ProMax® 3D Max imaging system a considerable advantage over traditional x-rays, and reduces the amount of guesswork and interpretation traditional x-ray films can require.
Applications for the Planmeca ProMax® 3D Max
While the possible applications for using this technology are practically endless, it is currently being used primarily for:
- Dental implant planning
- Periodontal diagnostics
- TMJ analysis
- Endodontic diagnostics
- Oral surgery planning
Because of the unique ability of this technology to create 3D images of the entire smile, this is an invaluable tool for diagnosing dental conditions and planning surgical procedures. Using software in conjunction with the Planmeca ProMax® 3D Max imaging system, our dentists can develop a treatment plan to place your dental implants in the best possible positions. By having a realistic visual representation of your smile, the software will construct a vivid map to identify any potential problems, and allow us to closely assess bone structure and soft tissues.
